Dolls, cars and figures

Buying guide

A toy should suit the child's age and interests: check the age on the packaging, especially for children under three, for whom small parts are a hazard. Interactive and remote-control toys need batteries – see whether they are included. Dolls and figures encourage role play, toy cars movement and collecting, and learning toys train logic and fine motor skills. When choosing a present, weigh age and interests together.
