An analogue camera connects over coaxial cable and makes sense where that cable is already in place – when upgrading an old system, you won't need to drill the walls again. Modern HD standards (TVI, CVI, AHD) deliver high resolution over the same cable, but the camera and recorder standards must match. Power runs separately, so plan for a power supply along with the camera.
