Access control and intercoms

Buying guide

Access control decides who gets through a door and when: by card, code, fingerprint or face. The system has three parts – reader, controller and lock – and all three must be compatible with each other. An electromagnetic lock opens when the power fails, while an electromechanical one stays locked; which is better depends on fire safety requirements. A video intercom shows you the visitor before you open the door, and often lets you answer from your phone too.
