GPON/EPON equipment

Buying guide

GPON and EPON are the technologies a provider uses to share one optical fibre among dozens of subscribers. An OLT sits at the head of the line, an ONU at the subscriber's end, with passive splitters in between that need no power. The ONU and OLT must use the same standard: the two technologies don't work with each other. When planning, the number of OLT ports and the number of subscribers allowed per port determine how large the network can grow.
