There are two ways to cool a processor: an air cooler or a liquid cooler (AIO). An air cooler has fewer moving parts and runs trouble-free for years; an AIO handles more heat and frees up space in the case, but you need to plan room for the radiator in advance. Before choosing, check two figures: your processor's socket (for example LGA1700 or AM5) and the maximum cooler height your case allows. Pick a TDP rating with headroom above the processor's rated power – running at the limit means noise. Renew the thermal paste every time you remove the cooler – an old layer conducts heat poorly.
