DVI, VGA and video splitters

Buying guide

DVI and VGA are the connectors of older monitors and projectors, and you need a converter to connect them to a modern computer. VGA is an analogue signal, so going to it from a digital output takes an active adapter rather than a simple cable. A splitter repeats one image on several screens, while a switch does the opposite – it connects several sources to one screen in turn. Check which one you need before buying.
